I just got my notebook from manic_intent and I love it! She wrote me a lovely Charles/Erik fic and illustrated it beautifully! She also included some neat postcards and the front page has the coolest handmade font I've ever seen. Unfortunately, my scanner is on the fritz, but I did what I could to capture some of it's awesomeness with my computer's camera.

My Airmail First Class recipient was Kannibal. Sent a notebook that was basically a whole lot like the branded moleskine notebooks, decorated with sakura-shaped paper cutouts. I filled up a few pages with a couple of short fics according to her prompts: one of the fics was the first Clint/Natasha fic I'd ever written, and the other was a Charles/Erik fic.

With the notebook I sent a couple of lilies made out of origami paper.

We hope that by now everyone who signed up for the exchange has been contacted by the people who claimed their prompts and vice-versa. You can still find contact details here, and we're still going to be around to answer questions and what not.

Remember that the deadline for mailing out notebooks is approaching soon!

All notebooks must be mailed out by midnight EDT of 10 August. This is absolutely non-negotiable. You can, of course, mail out your notebook earlier, if you've finished with it before then.

And remember, too, that this is an anything-goes kind of thing: you can create anything for your recipient! Write [fic/poetry/songs/meta/analysis]! Create art [drawings/sketches/painting/decoupage/typography/origami/photography/digital work]! Decorate [create a cover/make a bag]!

After 10 August we'll open the comm up to posts where people can show off the things they've created and received!

Delays and Moving Deadlines....

We apologize for the delay in posting the match ups for the claims on the fandom notebooks! It seems to have been a fairly busy beginning to this summer, what with various fests coming due and posting, and people also making plans for upcoming fandom stuff.

In any case, what this means is that there will be some changes to the deadline by which notebooks have to be mailed out. We also hope to have the final list of match ups by the weekend or Monday at the latest.

[ Those who volunteered to pinch-hit will also need to watch this space - and again, thank you :) ]

Thank you for sticking with us - and yes, this fest is definitely still on, and we're still looking forward to all the crafty fannish results!

The Airmail First Class FAQ Post

Welcome to Airmail First Class! We're very happy to have you on board, and we're really looking forward to seeing all the notebooks and art and words and shiny we're all going to be creating and receiving for each other.

So, now we're all here, let's talk exchange, let's talk details, let's talk rules.

IMPORTANT:

Please sign up only if you can guarantee that you will be able to complete the exchange. If you cannot complete your end of the exchange for any reason by the assigned date, please contact a mod as soon as possible so we can work out an alternate solution.

Please remember that this is an endeavor in which people are investing not only their time, but their money as well. It is very important to us that each participant receive something in the exchange, and we'd like to give as much time to pinch-hitters as we possibly can.

Take all the time you need to think about whether you want in or not. Just remember that once you get in, you have to be able to send something out.

And if you're interested in participating but you're still not sure about making the necessary financial commitment, then please contact the mods at hisuifox@gmail.com and we'll see if we can work something out.

Got it? Okay.

So how does this work? It's a pretty simple thing.

You take a notebook.

You do something of a fannish persuasion to it, such as
- write [quick fic, poetry, meta, analysis, et cetera]
- create art [drawing, painting, sketches, decoupage, typography, needlecrafts, photography, go nuts]
- decorate the outside [create a cover for it, drop it in a hand-made bag, the possibilities are endless].

You send out the notebook to your intended recipient.

And you wait for a notebook to come to you!

You can use whatever notebook you like, whatever suits your budget, whatever you think your recipient would like.

Don't forget to add something to the notebook before you drop it in the mail!

Sign-ups will run until midnight EDT of 21 June. There will be a post to which people can comment with the following information [all comments will be screened]:

> names / preferred alias
> fandom/s - and at least one of those fandoms should be X-Men: First Class!
> favorite character/s in the named fandoms - and at least one of those characters should be from X-Men: First Class
> likes and dislikes regarding the named fandoms
> up to five ideas/prompts for desired fic/art/crafts
> geographical location - just the country is fine

There will be a claims post where people can pick the person they want to send a notebook to. Claims will be strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you're sure you can spare the funds to help others send out their packages - and thank you, so much! - you'll just need to include some extra information in your sign-up.

Once everyone's been matched up, you may discuss shipping details with your giver and with your recipient, and thern everyone has five to six weeks to create their gifts.

All notebooks must be mailed out by midnight EDT of 28 July. This is absolutely non-negotiable. You can, of course, mail out your notebook earlier, if you've finished with it before then.

Once you've shipped your notebook please let us know - and once you've received your notebook, we'd absolutely love it if you could let us know, too!

Hello, and thank you for joining the community! We're just trying to put all the rules together before we jump right in.

In the meantime, some rules of the game:

> We hope many fandoms will join us in this one, depending on the people who join up. We'll be posting a list of included/interested fandoms soon.
> All fanworks are welcome, so long as you can put them down on paper in some way.
> No ship-shaming, kink-bashing, or shipping wars, please.
> It doesn't have to be a moleskine notebook - it just has to be that general pocket-size thing.
> The point is for each person to mail away one moleskine-type notebook with the first few pages taken up by the fanwork requested by their assigned recipient, and for each person to receive one similarly marked-up moleskine-type notebook.
> Love love only, no hating please!
